Module One

FOUNDATIONS OF AYURVEDIC YOGA HYBRID

A yoga and Ayurveda immersion to transform and deepen your understanding of Ayurveda as a medicinal science for self-healing and teaching.

This training expands upon Ayurveda’s tri-dosha medicine model to offer a foundation for understanding the framework for Ayurvedic Yoga. Expand the basis of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha by applying them to the Yogic practices of pranayama, asana, and meditation. Learn the why, how, and when for yoga sequencing, teaching, and living.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the root philosophy guiding yoga and Ayurveda from ancient texts to Doshic theory
  • Learn Vata, Pitta, and Kapha Namaskar variations for practice and teaching
  • Develop new teaching techniques from sequencing to cueing based on VPK understanding
  • Evaluate pranayama, meditation, and asana sequencing in reference to the Ayurveda VPK model
  • Understand and experience the foundations for adapting one-on-one OR class instruction per prakruti/vikruti paradigm, design, asana, voice, and cues per Dosha
  • Utilize the concept of Jathara Agni within Ayurveda to support healthy tissues and digestion through Yoga

Module Two

ROOTS OF YOGA, PHILOSOPHY, AND AYURVEDA

We begin at the start, the foundation and roots of Veda and its branches. Interactive in nature and thought-provoking to inspire real-life application and activation. Theory meets life.

Learning Objectives:

  • Deepen and learn Vedic history, timeline of Rig Vedic culture
  • Explore the Upanishad, Bhagavad Gita, Brhat Trayii (3 great Ayurvedic Texts), and Yoga Sutra for inner and life application
  • Integrate philosophy teachings with the Ayurvedic psychology module
  • Understand the basics of various Vedic Science to deepen your worldview

Module Three

AYURVEDIC RHYTHMS: LIFESTYLE MEDICINE
ONLINE
DATES: Feb. 17 1:30 to 5 pm+ March 9-10 (8am to 4 pm)

Long ago the ancients documented the cyclical and impermanent nature of life on Earth. Simple observation and keen presence allowed the ancients to master the Science now called Chronobiology. When you learn to live in flow simple inherent rhythms of the pulsing universe there is alignment.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the two halves of the year guided by the Sun and Earth cycle as mentioned in ancient texts and how to apply the teachings now
  • Learn and apply the concept of Rtucharya, the seasonal cycle as a guiding principle to most lifestyle decisions
  • Discuss Ayuveda’s concept of dina and rati -charya as a way to organize your daily life flow and activities with wisdom and plan
  • Integrate Dosha’s influence within the cycles of individual life

Module Four

AYURVEDIC ANATOMY FOR TEACHING YOGA

Transform the way you understand Ayuveda’s doshic wisdom to go deeper and broaden your understanding of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Embody the academic knowledge of the doshas through their sub-types.

This training will evolve your understanding of how each Dosha and sub-dosha can inform sequencing, class design, and self-healing. Throughout the weekend, we will weave the Western, physical view of the body alongside Yoga and Ayurveda’s energetic and elemental view.

Learning Objectives:

  • Ayurvedic Yoga practices are focused and tailored to demonstrate sub-dosha integration within Yoga practices.
  • Integrate and apply Sub-dosha anatomy and biological principles to the practices of Yoga
  • Understand how pranayama, meditation, and asana are viewed through the lenses of each Dosha and Sub-Dosha to individualize practices for private sessions
  • Integrate and deepen your knowledge of Yoga and Ayurveda for group class sequencing, cueing, and instruction. Learn to talk to each Dosha on a deeper level
  • Broaden your understanding of the physical, energetic, and mental bodies via Yoga and Ayurveda for complete healing and private yoga instruction
  • Learn to see the world through the fullness of the Doshas and how to maintain complete health, vitality, and immunity

Module Five

INTEGRATED ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

Fine-tune your understanding of basic Western anatomy and asana with an integrated Ayurvedic perspective. From joint action to sub-dosha function and anatomy, you will deepen your knowledge of the human body and physiology.

Module Six

THE ENERGY BODY FOR YOGA AND AYURVEDA

Dates: July 8, 15, 22, 29 (5 to 8 pm) + July 20 (6:30 am to 12 pm)

Dive deep into the subtle energy body. An immersive experience to bridge the physical to the energetic. Ayurveda’s model alongside Yoga offers a comprehensive approach for application and practice so we can maintain better balance.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore and deepen your understanding of Prana and the five-sub-types in Yoga and alignment and cueing
  • Read, discuss, and apply the teachings of Prashna Upanishad to better comprehend Prana and connect to ancient texts
  • Embody and discuss the Pancha Maya Kosha model to continue the inner exploration of the body and integrate the Ayurvedic perspective for application
  • Dive deeper into Nadi and Chakra as you bridge the wisdom of Ayurveda to utilize in practice and teaching
  • Overview and introduction to Marma, Marmani of Ayurveda

Module Seven

MARMA + YOGA: INTEGRATED ENERGY HEALING

Learn Ayurveda’s hidden healing secret of Marma, Marmani (vital points of energy). These points have been documented in various ancient texts, but most importantly in Ayurveda’s sacred Brht Trayii (3 ancient GREAT TEXTS). These great texts actually offer details about these points and link directly to Yoga via its physical and meditative practices.

Learning Objectives:

  • Background and history Marma (energy points) within Indian classical texts
  • Understand the Panchamaya Kosha model for application in Ayurvedic Yoga to support complete well-being
  • Integrate Marma and Chakra energetic models to deepen your understanding of the energy body
  • Learn how Marma points activation in Yoga asana and how to begin the evaluation process
  • Ayurvedic Yoga sadhana to learn by doing and personal experience as well as reflection and inquiry

Module Eight

YOGA, AYURVEDA AND MIND

Explore Ayurvedic and yogic psychology to delve deeper into the inner pharmacy of the mind. Weave concepts from various classical yogic and Vedic texts along with Ayurvedic psychology. Apply this knowledge to deepen and expand your yogic practices.

Vedic psychology offers a view to profoundly understand the mind, thought patterns, and our senses. The ancient wisdom is so insightful that thousands of years later, we still glean great insight into how best to live our lives.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn various practices designed to support your mind, body, and spirit connection through Ayurvedic Yoga
  • Understand the roots of Ayurvedic psychology and the difference between Doshas of the mind vs. Doshas of the body
  • Merge science with theory. Integration of ancient practices supported by both science and experience
  • Compare and analyze the Western view of mind to Vedic science to understand the integrated approach to mind, body, and healing
  • Comprehend the effectiveness of various pranayama, asana, and meditation techniques/practices to bring balance to the mind

The Art of 1:1 Ayurvedic Yoga Privates

An immersive module examines the how and why of creating Ayurvedic yoga practices for individuals. Integrating the Ayurvedic medicine principles of Dosha, Agni, Marma, and Dhatu alongside psychology, students learn to apply through practicum and case study learning.

Expand, integrate, and demonstrate the knowledge needed to learn how to work with clients individually in an integrated and healing way. Incorporating the principles of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Mindfulness, this module serves as an introductory and foundational module to understanding Yoga Chikitsa, Yoga therapy.

Learn how to gather information to assess and create individualized programs for clients that encourage balance and well-being. This immersion will challenge and hone your skills in developing and designing individualized programs for people. This weekend is a unique opportunity to be mentored while working with clients one-on-one.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the art of conducting client intake sessions to properly collect pertinent information to create balancing, self-healing lifestyle practices
  • Practice various reflective listening and questioning skills to connect with private clients and understand who they are and what they need to achieve better health
  • Understand how to adapt, vary, and integrate lifestyle protocols that are effective and easily integrated
  • Discuss ethical, legal, and scope of practice + collaborate health group models as a Yoga professional

Requirements for Certification

  • Complete all Modules and online work and show proficiency in teaching, demonstrating pranayama, asana, mediation, and mudra techniques learned.
  • Required live, synchronous attendance either in-person or online. In-person attendance is required for Ayurvedic Anatomy for Teaching Yoga, Marma + Yoga, and Individual Program Design Modules.
  • 80% Live participation is required for graduation.
  • Quizzes, projects, assignments, and discussion group participation
  • Complete assignments and projects (written, practicum, and oral exams.) A passing grade of 75% or above is required
  • Create, design, and teach Ayurvedic Yoga workshops for your community.
  • Deliver case study presentation
